Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

As the Holiday Season comes into full swing we just want to wish each and every one of you a Safe, Happy, Healthy Holiday Season!

As we get ready for the 2012 Bridal Show Season keep us in mind when your Friends and Family get engaged over the Holidays!  This is Engagement Season, Thanksgiving until Valentine’s Day!  The Majority coming in between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve!

As we do our Monthly contributions to various organizations, we have decided to donate our services to the Dix/McGuire/Lakehurst Joint Base Holiday Party!  This is a party for all of the Children and Families of Deployed Service Men and Women.  Joey Kidd and Dave Nase will be emceeing the event along with our Photobooth staff to take the Holiday Pictures!  We are also donating a Santa bag of toys and gift cards for the Children!

If you are ready to wind down the Holiday Season you can do that New Years Eve, with Joey Kidd at Vanity Fare from 8p-1am or Dave Nase at Doolans from 8pm-1a.  Both Places are having awesome menus, entertainment and festivities!

We are moving in onto Halloween weekend!  Some of the cooler new trends are Costume Weddings.  Some are done very extravagant with Black Tie and Masquerade Masks.  Others are done with wild and crazy costumes in very eccentric, decorated rooms.  It all depends on your style and demeanor.

The best Halloween Wedding Story I have is a couple invited everyone to their costume party.  There was about 125 family and friends.  They had their cocktail hour in the same room as the party so people wouldn’t get suspicious.  The music was typical party music.  The couple was also dressed up in ordinary costumes.  Right after the first course a guest was dressed as a Priest, took the microphone and walked to the front of the room.  At this point the couple was not around.  The Priest asked all the guests to rise.  The music came on and out came the couple dressed as Bride and Groom!

The priest then did a five minute ceremony that was for real!  Everyone went nuts!  After the Hugs and Kisses the Groom took the mic and told the guests that they wanted a real wedding.  Just friends and family having fun being themselves.  They didn’t want to worry about flowers, video, photography, nothing!  We as the DJ were in on it.  Their parents didn’t even know!  The Groom continued that just having a party was their whole goal and didn’t feel they needed guests to pay them (Gifts) to be at their wedding!  It was one for the ages!

We also want to thank our Staff and Friends for helping us raise over $1300 at the Special Olympic Pull A Plane event!  We had 18 Pullers and made it the 15′ in 9.2 secs.  The plane weighed 96k lbs!  We had Darren Nase, Dave’s brother, and Joey Gass, Joey Kidd’s nephew lead the team at the Top of the Rope.  Both boys have Down Syndrome and are our inspiration in raising money for this great organization.  Dave Nase and Joey Kidd’s children, DJ, Corey, Kyle, Nicky and Carmine were also part of the team!  Josh and Jon from the Photobooth team were there along with Kathryn from the mixing team and her 3 friends who all work with Special Needs Children.  Mixer Keri and her friend Matt also helped with event.  Dave and Joey’s wives took the photos of the event which are also on our Facebook page!

In two days it will officially be Fall!  The summer flew by and the Holidays are rapidly approaching!

We want to send a very big Good Luck to the Brick High School Boys and Girls Cross Country team!  They are our team for the month of September to help purchase some equipment for meets.

On October 1st, many members of the staff are participating in the Special Olympics Pull-A-Plane event on the tarmac of Newark Liberty Airport!  All the monies go to help this great cause!  Dave’s brother, Darren and Joey’s Nephew, Joey, both have Down Syndrome and we do these events in their honor!  If you would like to Donate please use this link

Wedding Show season is upon us.  We have a Food Tasting at the Channel Club in Monmouth Beach on 9/20 at 630pm and a Food Tasting at the Vanity Fare in Lakewood on 9/21 at 645pm.

We are also Performing at the American Bridal Showcase at Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant on Tuesday 9/27 at 645pm.

Enough about us!  Here is something for the Brides to be!

The last month or so we have seen Newlyweds lose a lot of time during their reception doing their “Walk Around” to all tables.  By the time they are done visiting all these tables they usually have less than an hour and a half in their reception.  To alleviate this, join your guests in your Cocktail Hour.  You can then mingle with everyone in there and not lose time to be on the dance floor with all your guests!  Don’t worry, they will not take offense to not visiting their tables.  You will be taking the time to spend with them during the cocktail which is just as sincere.  Guests know that you want to dance and enjoy yourselves.  They will be happy that you take the time to chat with them during the cocktail hour.

We hope that all of our Friends and Fellow Wedding Professionals have had a fantastic summer!!  I know it’s about a week from the end, so enjoy the rest while you can!

NJ has seen Tornados (in Brick a month ago), an Earthquake, and now Hurricane Irene is heading our way!  Be safe out there and like most people during the summer months, just go with the flow!

This summer has sprung a whole new life into NJs Best DJs!

We start with BRIDE LIVE VIDEO CONFERENCING!  Now in the comfort of your own home you can meet with one of our entertainers or staff right in front of your computer!  There is no downloading involved (Just need Flash which most computers have), all you have to do is click a link and bingo you are live in a consultation with one of our staff!  Bride Live is fully equipped with our videos, testimonials, info sheets, and so much more.  It is just like being in the same room without the traffic and rush rush of getting to an appointment after work!

Next, we have upgraded our systems with new mixers, speakers and the latest DJ software!  We’ve added 4 more Tower Lights with Moving Heads to our 2 already, plus some new Facades!  All of this to ensure great sound, quality, and appearances at your event!

We have brought on seasoned Emcee Matt Wilder to the staff.  Matt has been with Disney Cruise Ships and Radio Disney for the past several years and now joins NJs Best DJs!  You will be seeing his pictures, bio and video shortly on our site!

We have continued our Charity contributions throughout the summer.  We have sponsored the Children’s Miracle Network, Brick HS Wrestling Club and our currently working with the Brick AYF Football Challenger Cheerleading Program with their Demo Music.  Since September and October is our BUSY Season with Weddings, we are trying to put a team together for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Point.  We will keep you up to date on our progress.

Memorial Day officially kicks off the summer season to most people, so HAPPY SUMMER!!! Wedding season is upon us and we look forward to entertaining at all our events!

As we head into the summer this will be our last weekly blog for the season. We will write one in July and one in August, and then come back full force in September.

June’s donation was to the Children’s Miracle Network.  We sponsored a hole for their Charity Golf Event.  Dave Nase and our music mixer Dan will be participating in the event as well.  Good Luck to both of them.

Our words of advice this week is simple.  There are many videos out there of different entertainers.  Many are called video logs.  They focus on what the entertainers did the previous week at their wedding events.  What you will notice is many of them do not have the introductions shown or the entertainer being involved.  It is very important when you are watching these videos is to find ones were you actually hear the entertainer speak.  He is the one running your wedding.  You want to make sure his voice is crisp, his speech is sharp and this is where you can see their personality shine!  You hire entertainers for that main reason so to be sure to see them before you make your decision.

We have broken the 80 mark for Wedding Wire which is FANTASTIC!  We have only been using their service for just over a year and our past Newlyweds have had a lot of great things to say about us!!  Thank you!

With that spring weather finally arriving, we hope you are enjoying it as much as we are! 

For the month of May we made a donation to the Make A Wish foundation! Joey Kidd had the honor of doing an event for them and the Wall Twp Recreation Dept on April 30, 2011. It was a huge success and we raised over $4,000 for the children in Central Jersey who are participating in this wonderful Program!

As most of you know, Dave Nase is an avid runner. NJs Best DJs in conjunction with Mike Walter owner of Elite Entertainment are in the process of launching a 5k and 1 mile run/walk called The Doggie Dash!  The 1 mile run/walk will feature some very special individuals, “Your Dogs.” It will benefit a charity for pets. (To be announced soon) The event will take place Saturday 11/12/11 at Dor Brook Park in Colts Neck, NJ and is shaping up to be a lot of fun.  There will be entertainment of course..lol by NJs Best and Elite Entertainment. All sorts of great prizes for your pets along with awards for Overall top (3) 5k runners male and female and top (3) male and female all age groups as well. We will have more details in the upcoming months, posting an event on facebook along with all sorts of other great ways to get involved! We look forward to a fun and exciting day.

We have received many awesome reviews on Wedding Wire, through emails and the old-fashioned way, hand written cards. We thank you all for the kind words and recommendations.

Speaking of recommendations, I want to thank all of the professionals we work with week in and week out. We have received many compliments and referrals from you as well. There have been some events recently that could have been challenges based on a variety of circumstances. We know going into these events we would need to be on our A game. We took the time to call all the professionals involved plus the facility and we all showed up plenty early to put it into effect. The result was flawless! Professionals in the industry have the same mind set as we do, to make the event awesome! Thank you for thinking the same way we do!

Wedding Season is upon us!

Before this week’s episode begins, we just want to wish all of our friends in the wedding business, a very safe, happy, healthy and prosperous start to our NEW YEAR, WEDDING SEASON! We look forward to working with all of you!

For April we have donated to the, “ALR Walk with us to cure Lupus Foundation.” The walk will be on May 21. Joey Kidd’s cousin, Marlana, suffers from Lupus. Her family has put together a team, Marlie’s Crew, to walk in the event. Joey Kidd’s wife, Stacy, will be representing NJs Best at the event, walking with the team. With Wedding Season in Full Swing, we just wanted to thank all of the future Newlyweds and honorees, who reserved their dates with us during Booking Season (Jan, Feb and March)!! NJs Best set personal records this past season and we appreciate the trust you have in our company.

For those who keep up with our blog. Last month, was mentioned that Joey Kidd is coaching a few teams. Both teams are holding their own. We will keep you posted as the season progresses.

Dave also recently entertained a ZUMBA-THON for Finding a Cure for Cancer! No, he unfortunately did not ZUMBA, but he did pretend to dance will everyone else sweated it out for a few hours, lol!

I had the pleasure of discovering NJs Best DJs at a wedding expo at the Wyndham in Jersey City, NJ about a year before our wedding. I met Dave and a colleague of his, and right away felt his awesome energy and knew he would be just what we were looking for for our wedding. Dave was very flexible – the NJs Best DJs office is located in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, however my husband and I live about an hour and a half north in Hoboken – he offered to meet at almost any North Jersey location that would be convenient to us to get to in order to meet in person…it turned out that we were able to meet at the Pt. Pleasant Beach location after all since it was on the way to Atlantic City, which we had been heading to one weekend. Also Dave is very responsive in terms of email and phone, which we made heavy use of in fine-tuning the music details towards the end of the planning process. Dave was also flexible in terms of being able to properly mix the somewhat complicated list of songs I had given him that included styles from high-energy house music to country to Italian opera for the “parents crowd”…and he played everything at the exact right moments! It was amazing. Also, as my friends and I are pretty big on house music, and Dave threw in some awesome surprises – at no charge – that really lit up the dancefloor! Literally My husband and I had a blast and were on the dancefloor almost the entire night, as was almost everyone else at the weddding – friends, family, all generations – it was great, so much great energy. We received numerous compliments on how much fun everyone had! Couldn’t have asked for a better time or a better DJ!

Dave Nase was the DJ at our March 5, 2011 Wedding and was fantastic my guests have not stopped talking about how much they fun they had and how great the music was. NJs Best DJs Staff

As you might expect January is a crazy month to reserve all your wedding services.  With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s all within a month or so of each other, they are prime occasions to get engaged.  January always officially kicks off Wedding Planning season.  Now you would expect it to go straight through February.  Many companies stats are saying the opposite.

Two types of Brides come out of the January gate.  The first type gets her whole wedding planned within 2 of 3 weeks of January.  Church, Facility, DJ, Photographer, Video, Flowers….DONE!  Many of these brides have been expecting to get engaged around this season.  They have attended as a guest or been in many weddings already so they know who and what they are looking for!  The second type of bride likes to enjoy the whole planning idea.  They use January and February to do all the show hopping, internet searching, list planning, etc.  This type of bride usually sets her goal of March to tie things down.  They use January and February to do all of the research leaving no stone unturned.

With all that being said, that leaves February usually slow compared to January and March.  This year we set a record with bookings in January.  Our February beat last year’s numbers in sales.  March is on pace to surpass January.  What also helps the March bookings is Valentine’s Day as well.  The bride who thought she was getting engaged at Christmas, gets engaged in February, so she runs rampant through the planning process and locks up EVERYTHING by the middle of March.

You might be wonder why we would mention all this.  Our goal is to help future Brides plan.  Telling you what the busy months are will allow you to use the slower months to maybe get more one on one attention with a Wedding Professional of your choice.  The bottom line is whether you want to get the planning done, or enjoy the moment, January through March is the best Wedding Planning season!  Companies are just finished from a crazy year.  They have new ideas and are looking for a fresh start in the New Year!  It is a win/win for Future Newlyweds as well as Wedding Professionals!

As we continue our “Give Back Campaign.”  This month a portion of all bookings will go to Point Pleasant Little League and Brick Little League for team sponsorships.  Now we did say we would not just write a check.  So, Joey Kidd has donated his time to Manage a Minor league team at Brick Little League, as well as their Travel AAU 8 year old team.  As we did with the Polar Bear Plunge in February by raising awareness of Special Olympics, this time please help support your local spring recreation teams.  Just by buying a candy bar or a t-shirt for a fund raiser, you help support youth sports by allowing the leagues to provide equipment and services to give kids something to do besides sit around playing video games or getting in trouble.
