How big is your network? Are you proactive or inactive? Are you connecting with others or worrying about rejection? Let’s face the music (no pun intended). Building a successful network takes time, sometimes guts, and hard work. This weeks article focuses on your warm contacts, people you already know…
So what are you doing to improve your bottom line? Famous author Zig Ziglar quotes, “The only difference between where you are today, and where you will be this time next year, are the people that you meet and the books that you read.” Now I have read many books that help encourage us to improve our business skills and still do but, it’s the people that we meet and connect with daily who help grow our business. One of the key aspects to long lasting business growth is relationships.
“ASK” TRUST ME THEY WONT MIND
Now everyone always says, I have a ton of relationships. I have my mom, my dad, my cousin, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, wife, husband and the list goes on and on. Guess what? You’re right, you do have a ton of relationships. Family and friends can be a great network source that contribute to the growth of your company. So, are they helping you get what you want? You want to ensure they are talking about you and your business all the time to their contacts, friends, and family members. Do you believe in the 6 degrees of separation? Don’t be afraid to ask your family and friends to help network for you. Here are a few helpful tips to get you moving in the right direction.
5 simple steps toward networking success:
- If you don’t have a relationship with your family and friends, BUILD THEM!
- Make sure your business cards are in their wallets or pocketbooks.
- Ask if they wouldn’t mind having cards/literature on their desk or work place.
- Have your business phone/line programmed in their cell phones for quick access.
- Replenish them with your cards/literature monthly.
Bonus Step…Make sure you let them know how much you appreciate them for contributing to your success. For some a simple phone call works wonders, for others maybe it’s flowers, a thank you card, or a gift card to their favorite restaurant. Whatever it might be, put it at the top of your priority list, and watch your Network increase your Net Worth!!
Next weeks article will focus on people you know, but are not close to you. Acquaintances, someone you met for the first time, referral from a friend, ect…
